EzDrummer in Madtracker 2

Hello! Smile

Today I purchased EzDrummer after reading very good reviews of it in several studio/music magazines. And they were totally right, you get a kicker plugin for those few pennys that it costs.

.. and, it works perfectly well in MT2 (except that you can't drag'n'drop the midi example files ofcourse, but that's, at least for me, is a minor problem).

Here's a little example of a loop that I made in MT2.

First off is the drum loop with the humanizer function:
Dead link!

.. and secondly, the same loop without the humanizer function:
Dead link!

If you compare those two lines you will hear how much the humanizer function actually does.

Here's two screen shots with EzDrummer in action in MT2:

The main screen:
Dead image.. Smile

The mixer window:
Dead image.. Smile

In the mixer you can adjust the sound levels from the virtual microphones in the virtual room.

With the package you will also get a Cocktail drum set. The one you hear in my examples are the pop/rock drum set..

Anyway, if you like to have a good software drum machine, for a quite cheap price, which is easy to use and with a intuitive interface, I would recommend EzDrummer.

Note that I have absolutely nothing to do with Toontracks who's made this software. It's just a user recommendation to other MT2 users.

Greets
/Daniel

Oh, one more thing to note, I did not authorize (which is feeding it with the authorize code you get from the ezdrummer website by giving them your serial code from the DVD disk plus the hardware finger print code from your computer) the plugin in MT2, but in Cubase.

But I guess it shouldn't be any problem at all to do the same thing in MT2...

EZDrummer is based on DFH .. it's a light version of it, but on the other hand it's not Smile.

This is what ToonTracks writes about that issue:

"Somebody once suggested that we make a light version of dfh SUPERIOR. A great suggestion. dfh SUPERIOR was and still is a monster of a box, designed with the mad scientist music producer in mind. When the time came around to actually realize the idea of a smaller drum sampler we decided to take the concept one step further.

So dfh EZdrummer is a dfh SUPERIOR light and at the same time it isn't. The experience gained from developing dfh SUPERIOR are all in there: sounds recorded and produced in partnership with the best in the business, microphone control and humanizing features. TPC, Toontrack Percussive Compression, keeps RAM and disc space required to a minimum."

So, it's a dfh SUPERIOR, but more intuitive, fast paced worked, easier and takes much much less ram and CPU, but without the cost of getting much lower sound quality.

Oh, I've noticed one problem with EZdrummer in MT2.

MT2 seems to be unable to save the settings made in EZdrummer. Settings like mixer levels and drum choices. :/

I did not succeed to save and load presets either :/

What does it do in another VSTI host ? similar problems ?
Seems that EZdrummer has some bugs though (Version 1.01) : http://www.toontrack.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=18031

For the drag and drop "problem" they suggest to try the following: http://www.toontrack.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=17521

And here is the list of the supported and unsupported hosts: http://www.toontrack.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=16969 , madtracker isn't mentioned at all however:

Ezdrummer Forum wrote:
IMPORTANT: EZdrummer does not operate in stand alone mode and therefore requires a compatible sequencer to operate. Instruments hosts without sequencing capabilities are not supported.

Looking at their site and faq's i'm afraid that toontrack doesn't support madtracker at all ....

I have EZdrummer lying somewhere around and if i have some spare time i'll test out if i can replicate.

cheers,

Music ... is endless ... Work in progress ...
