I was wondering recently... comparing MT2 with Renoise and other programs... if I could get lots more features! (Yes Yannick, I'm sorry for increasing your workload!) All this would be nice!
If you wanna list of the advantages of each program, here:
MT2
Much nicer VST support
Mixer
Simpler interface
Ogg Export
MIDI export (TGF uses MIDI files for music )
ReWire
Free ASIO support
IRC
Spectrum Analyzers
DirectX, ASIO and that other one
Renoise
Multiple DSPs/track
Extra DSPs
Nice themes
Stereo Master scopes
Subgroups
Up to 32 Bit sample depth
I would drool for a combination of both! Will MT3 support all this, Yannick? |

Out of those you listed under renoise, I would absolutely love to see subgroups. That would make adjusting e.g. drums compared to leads so much easier. |

About the "nice themes" in Renoise, that is a minor reason I decided to register MT instead of Renoise. Just too much flash. I hate showy graphics eating up my valuable compute cycles. Also, you have to have your screen set to 1024 x 768 minimum before it will even run.
Reasons (in no particular order) I chose MT over Renoise:
1. Straightforward GUI style, no flashy junk.
2. Easy to understand GUI layout........ or at least as easy as a tracker gets. :/
3. Slightly cheaper
4. Straightforward VST loading through the Windows Explorer, not the VST list Renoise presents. I want to be able to look through my organized folders, NOT have all the VSTs thrown into one big honkin list!
5. Yannick, a real person, made this program, and he is usually on the chat or forum. This is much to be preferred over trying to weasel tech support out of a corporation. |

Well, I rarely use Renoise because of CPU crashes And no Ogg export, or non DirectSound or ASIO drivers |
