Alto or Behringer? They're both cheap, but which should I choose? My budget is very low, so I better stick to compressors in that class Smile

The one that sounds best? Just take an unmastered track to the shop, and check which one gives the best results. Or are you going to order it online?

speaking of compressors,

i'd like to know if there is any stand alone (meaning non VST or DX plugin) software compressors out there that i could just hook up the wave output (_not_ the physical line out)?

Cool

realtime? probably there is, but I haven't heard of one. Think VST or DX is pretty much standard these days...

I use the software multiband-compressor delivered with Wavelab 4.0. I donīt know much about compressors, but I think this one is good and it is free, if you know what I mean Mr. Green

T-racks 24. It also comes in dx format, but it was (and is) originally a standalone application. DX and VST have the advantage of being realtime, but T-Racks also is.

the kx drivers come with a built-in output compreser. It's hard to find it and disable it (which I do), but look and ye shall find
