Ok, so no more artist schedules then, I'm convinced

A free chain, instead of a made chain, it's ofc the best way

But last time well, that was history. To many people, to many logistics, etc...

2008 chain will stand for: Artists having fun!

Not like last time, trying to pleasing 48 people, to get the largest chain ever.

Nice to see there's still so much intrest in this btw

Ok but now to discuss working rules, as posted above, do they need changes, I think there good standards, for keeping the track workable and blending our styles in other parts.

I've nevery participated in a chainsong. Everything I understood is that people produce a part when it's their turn. but: has this part to be based on the one before or to be completly new?

maybe you can show me an example song

//edit

just found the 2006 project site. now I understand it a bit better. |

Discussion!!!

jeez, I need you guys... Or should we keep it as it was. I don't know, you guys tell me. I stand for those old rules, but.. It's not up to me, it's up to the hardcore chainers from madtracker.org to decide if bits of them should be changed or not.

Action people Action!

This topic is bleeding dead, and we all want to get it pumping again!

Let's get the preperation going insead of looking back,

Let's Unite, let's chain

Here's my suggestion for new version of the "rules." - if that's what's needed....

- A ftp login and password will be sent to all artist who has signed up in the special Chainsong 2008 Sign-up thread.

- Post in the special Chainsong 2008 Schedule thread to arrange your time to do your part in the chainsong!

- No VST plugins are allowed!

- You can use 4 new patterns of any length, added onto the end of the song, clearly labeled with your artist name.

- You only add 4 new instruments, clearly labeled with your artist name and instrument name.

- You can only add 4 new tracks, clearly labeled with the instrument's name that is used in it. One instrument per track only!

- You can use mutiple samples under each instrument, but max filesize is 4mb in total per artist!

- You have 96 hours (4 days) to make your part, before someone can claim your spotand you will be skipped, but welcome to join again later (get to the back of the queue.)

- You are NOT allowed to adjust any patterns of the artists before you - including the last pattern.

- If you want to use a different BPM and LPB, you must use the Command FX to change just your part.

- Tracks 61-64 will have pre set mpreverb track effects on them, these effects aren’t allowed to be altered or removed

- No reverb track effects may added on any different tracks (this is to keep the cpu usage low!)

- If you use automation, change volumes etc, make sure this does not affect any previous part other than your own!

- If you introduce an NEW instrument you HAVE to use it in a new blank track - you have to name that track to the instrument that you have used. This way all instruments will have there own track, labeled properly by the artist introducing them into the song, "including instrument number" If multible tracks are needed for strings etc lable these tracks as string 1 / string 2 etc.

 - Once the tracks/patterns/instruments are all used up, then the Chainsong is finished. |

How about a rule that any new part must be inserted between existing parts? That sure would make things different for a change. |

Yeah, I'm in, especially with the schedule removed.

Too bad that I always rely on VSTs when making my thing, at least 90% of every track is based on them, so it makes it really hard to go oldschool.

Doesn't need so much planning now, so why don't start right now with the first one who call dibs?

Right... needs an ftp and the starting file, but that shouldn't take long to set up. |

Yannicks old chainsong FTP is still up and running. No need to delete the stuff that's on there, but we could start this right now. The first one to say "dibs" get to start? |
