Wow, last night I turned on MTV and saw this new track of her.
Amazing writing IMO though I must admit that the whole sound of the track ( chords & instruments ) reminds me of The Chemical Brothers surrender outro masterpiece 'Dream On'.

Now does anyone know who the producer is on the album 'folklore' were Powerless comes from. And more important, does anyone know of an acapella of the track?

I don't know, but you can browse the web or ask at the Nelly F forum... http://board.nellyfurtado.com/ubbthreads.php

This is Nelly's comments about Powerless...

"I get to see a lot of DJ-oriented performance stuff, and I'm into the heaviness of breakbeats, how raw and powerful they are. Everything lately has become so synthesized, but just the standard sound of breakbeats is inspiring. 'Powerless' uses breakbeats like that; it's a real groove, a real vibe. It just carries you away. There's a banjo mixed with a breakbeat from Malcolm McLaren's 'Buffalo Gals.' So right away you're bobbing your head. The lyrics are initially in-your-face, like, 'Okay, I know I'm going to be stereotyped in my life because that is the world we live in; that's society.' But the song tries to find some sense of order in this complicated world.'

It might be worth checking the Kazaa network (Kazaa Lite, no spyware Wink) for the acapella.

edit: Scrap that. I checked.
Lots of downloads for the actual song though Rolling Eyes

I'm gonna have to check out this song. This might be a good little project for those of us who sing, as well as compose. Wink
