That's probably why I don't listen to radio anymore...

hmm.. i dunno about queensland, but here in victoria there are a couple of great non-bullshit-pop stations that SUPPORT unsigned artists called 3RRR (triple-R) and PBS FM. they have many shows throughout the week with an awesome variety of music, from jazz to underground hiphop, to breaks, drum N bass, all kinds of techno, rock, reggae, even country mandolin silliness!!... its all in there, and some of the DJs on those stations are those who play in the darker nightclubs, away from the bullshit pop music.. though all the other stations are a bunch of pop crap. hehe!

Cool

Really? Aw bugger, I wish I knew about that station while I was in Victoria! Razz Oh well

An old topic, but I'd like to join in...

Hmmm, last albums I've purchased were from Matchbox20 and Dishwalla, both alternative rockbands here in the USA. I can sing just as good as their primary singers (Rob Thomas and JR, resp.). Well almost... still need to develop better diaphragmatic/laryngeal vibrato and breath control.

But as far as Electronica (as tracking tends to lean towards this broad genre), my top favorites for the last 10-20 years have been Vangelis, J.M.Jarre and Mars Lasar. Last one I purchased from Vangelis was 'Mythodea' (c.2001), for the Viking mission to Mars. It's kinda Gustav Holst-ish, done with conventional orchestration and opera, but with electric guitar and synths mixed in. Not too bad, but not that great either.

Those who like "space music" (whatever that means) should listen to Constance Demby, such as her "Novus Magnificat" work. There are 2 parts and each is ~30 minutes long. It's basically classical/baroque music themed to synths. Was done in 1986 mostly on the now defunct Fairlight CMI. Read up on Constance. She is a pioneer in electronic music, some of her instruments being created by herself.

There are:

1) Legal ones. 500-700 rubles, big ,money (that mp3 CD cost 80 rubles).

2)Licensed ones. 100-200 rubles... They're legal and released in Russia by companies like FONO or CD-MAXIMUM...

Enter my shrine of wisdom, young lad. Get yourself Andy C - Nightlife. It's a mix album by Andy C, holding all major anthems of this year. 70 minutes of pure, intense, fast and furious beats, varying from hardcore dnb (check out Fresh - Signal (latest track on the album)) to latin jungle tunes. Must have if you aren't in need of 'more [than] 3 valuable songs', but in need of 'anthem! anthem! rewind!'.

Latest CD Recieved : Ministry of Sound - The 2004 Annual

2CD, filled to 80 mins each, packed full of great tunes, and mixed together almost seamlessly to create a "80min song" feel.

As you can see, I suck at promoting Rolling Eyes
But, a great cd imo. Something to listen to Smile
