Sorry, just had to say that Cool

I know what you mean. I think,as you said, something grabs you by the nutz, but there's always the the danger of medling too much with a tune, so the general idea is lost.

I find myself starting on something, adding and then starting all over again with a new part of the original. I actually just recently finished my first "complete" track myself,
http://inhousepussy.madtracker.net/ShortButreadytomix/ and there's still more i could do.
But I think as Inge so elegantly put it"Expand,Explore" is a good point.

I'm starting on a new track as we speak, wich will probably take me a couple of mounths to complete, as I suffer from the same ??? syndrome.

In other words:everything made by man can always be improved, and true satisfaction can only be found during the creative prosess..

It's not finished until you are satisfied. It doesn't matter if you have the track in the works for several months or even years. Some day you might have extra inspiration, a stroke of genius (is this a valid expression? thought I heard it somewhere), a moment of enlightenment and eventually you get it right.

yah that just happened to this track im workin on right now... last night i was scrolling through my samples... i have too many (never enough) and it hit me... i was 'This is EXACTLY' what i need! so i think its dont... maybe its just down to panning and stuff... you know. the tedious stuff. but its all touch ups in the name of art right Wink

I don't even think I should try to answer this question since I nothing of mine ever gets done Razz But that's just because I'm never compleatly satesfied with my songs when they become a bit longer. So I guess it's when you are satesfied with the song. Damn, now I did try and answer it anyway Surprised

It feels like even though I'm 100% satisfied and done with my tune, I'll always find stuff in the future which I should've done in some other way or even skip cause it doesn't fit.

That's why I think it's good not to work TOO much on the tune, but to let it rest in peace for a while and then wake it up from the dead some weeks later and see everything objective instead of letting some part be there although it's not good, but because I've spent so much work with it.

One other thing is that if a tune is too perfect it'll often be dull instead; like using too much quantisize if you use i.e. cubase / logic.

/Daniel
