Help With Compressor/Gate

i have a Alesis 3630 Compressor, with Gate.... but i dont know how to use it, i read the manual (but i dont understand it).... im just trying to find somewhere that will tell me how to set it up properly..id really appreciate it. Thanks

Eitherway, probably gifted hardware owners here will help you out as soon as possible, but it remains odd...why have one if you don't have a clue what it is and what it can do?

second, Senate, is your problem that you can't plug it in properly or that you don't understand how to use it when it's already plugged in? just a question to make it a bit easier for someone else to help you cause I can't either way so.. Smile

Please make sure you plug it into the wall first. It sure has lots of knobs and doo-hickies. That's probably throwing you off. I hope you at least know what a compressor does. If not, please send it to me. Here is a link to its specs... http://www.alesis.com/products/3630/index.html

I have it plugged in, everythings connected properly.. I just dont understand what to set any of the knobs at.. I do know what a compressor and gate do also..im just confused sorry

Well, a small explanation.. About compressor: Attack decides how fast the compressor should react on a peak. Release decides how fast the compressor should let the signal go back to normal. Ratio decides how much you want to compress. Threshold decides from what dB it should start to compress. About gate: Threshold decides from which dB it should be closed, and no sound will go through. Ratio decides how much it will be closed /Daniel
