Hello all,
your help is needed here. Desperately. The information gathered will be used both for future MadTracker descriptions as for my current quest for knowledge in the field of cognitive linguistic. Thanks in advance
Below is the concept sentence of describing MadTracker on the VST database KVR. The intention of the sentence is to convice people of the point stated. I have displayed it in two versions that are nearly identical. The only difference is italized. My question is: which one do you prefer for the purpose of the description? A simple (1) or (2) will suffice, but any additional remarks are much appreciated!
The outcome of this small test will be explained later, including current theories on this topic in cogntive linguistics. Questions or remarks can be either pm'd or emailed to me via inge[at]madtracker.org.

(1)
No. That's right. MadTracker doesn't have a pianoroll. Nor a matrix. Because you don't need them. Forget about conventions. Achieve better, more and innovating results in less time. Use it either as a full production factory or an element of your existing setup. MadTracker will give you the closest connection between imagination and sound.

#2 - because it seems more friendly. Your statement comes across as your opinon. #1 comes more across as if you are trying to convince somebody about your statement by passing it of as common knowledge. |

Thanks so far. I won't respond yet, since it would influence new reactions too much. Let's say that all things mentioned are elaborated thoroughly by Yannick and me, so keep those reactions coming!

#2. It sounds that little bit more to the point. |

don't like either one of them... I would go with something like that there is a alternetive way of producing bla bla bla...
but if I have to chose I would probably go with..... hmm... can't make my mind up sorry |

@ Toffe: can you be more specific, and describe what it is what you would like to see as a substitute? This promo says that there is an alternative way of producing, but in less direct terms. It's quite lame to say something like "madtracker offers an alternative for existing production methods that achieves the same results". The current version explains that - even without the 'professional' pianoroll and matrix sequencer - madtracker can achieven the same, if not better results.
The thing that is lacking though is the fact that this add does not mention exactly what it is that madtracker offers in return, so I might have to think about that.

Mikx: I'm no native speaking English person, and I thus make gigantic mistakes. Could you please define the errors in grammar, so I can learn from it?

hehe.. i'm not a native english speaker either, and i'm not sure how to explain this properly, but here's how i would rewrite the first sentences in #1:
That's right. No, MadTracker doesn't have a pianoroll, nor a matrix, because you don't need them.
notice this: 'no' is placed elsewhere and 'because' is no longer the start of a sentence (which originally in my opinion ended a little abruptly). there are only certain ways in which you can use the word 'because' at the beginning of a sentence. that's all i can remember from primary school hehe.. i think we need the help of a wise old englishman on this one..
mikx
edit: fixed errors. HAHAHA!! |

It has (as mikx said) a more professional ting over it. #1 looks more like an opinion to me. |
