I've followed the introduction here: http://beatmax.madtracker.net/mt2tutor/eng/index.html?basics.htm , but when I click the Record Button / press Space-Bar, nothing happens? Is a window meant to pop-up or something?

If you press the record button/press spacebar the only thing that happens is the button being pressed.
It now is possible to put samples into the pattern.
Or didn't i understand the question??
