Ok, ive been using a porgram called Guitar Pro 4 to make midi music for a while now, is it worth learning how to use madtracker? as im doubtful as to wether my music will sound any better. i also have downloaded it and am completely clueless to how it works, im readin a tutorial but im still confused Id it worth me learning how to use it? Any thoughts would be appreciated thanx

It depends how much time you want to spend learning.

I have too many other things that take my time, but people who do master MadTracker do get great results.

If it is only midi you want, you may want to try Anvil Studio.

ive listened to some of the music on this site an it does sound a little better but not that great, the music itslef is quite good , just the quality of how itd been made. i mean midi is pretty poor at the best of times, but some madtracker made stuff aint much better. im tryin to work out this thing at the moment..... another thing, the way u input the notes is a bit odd, isnt there sumkind of plug-in were u can use standard notation or sumin?

You mean a plugin that converts traditional music notation (with notes on a bar) into the 'odd' characters you see appearing now? Not that I'm aware of, but High Master Of Plugins Beatmax might be able to inform us about this issue As for the sound quality: it's not the program, but the author. There are quite some people using MadTracker for their guitar songs (check out http://quinone.madtracker.net/davidswain and http://lysis.audio-stream.net/xnme/muzik.htm for two very gifted wizards of guitars and MadTracker). The thing about MadTracker is that it can easily combine analogue sounds (as recorded from your instrument), and mix them with other samples or virtual instruments to create virtually any sound you would like to get. yer that wud be great, or a way to import midi files would be even better hmm yer those links were quite good, thanx oke im sold on it being better than midi i wish there was an easier interface, so a plug-in may be helpful. like a standard notation one. or even better the whole midi importer thig wud be way better. thanx for the help guys ill go an av a look for some plug-ins...

yeah i agree with inge. also, the quality of the song depends on the quality of samples that you use (obviously!), and also on the quality of effects. since VST support, i've stopped using the internal reverb plugin and instead use a VST one - quality-wise its incomparable. mikx

After a little while, you get used to the interface. Find some sounds, play around, experiment, yadda yadda yadda, it'll all make sense soon enough. edit: Infact, I never used the tutorial. I don't think it was around when I started. Least you have that to fall back on.

Hehe, I remember the tutorial is around for at least 3 years now... You're not that old There's no vst for traditional input as far as I know, only a step sequencer which is in beta (it's on kvr). Maybe trackers are not for you at the moment. You shouldn't force yourself onto a piece of software as there's a myriad of choices available.

just to point out: Midi has nothing to do with soundquality, midi is only a standard used for sending instructions to and from midi-devices, which in turn play the sounds So if you get low quality from midi it means the devices you use to play the sounds are playing low quality. And to answer your question, it's always worth learning something new, even if it's only to see that something else was better

I think he wants to here what madtracker sounds like? can it sound professional? goto the music forum, and look at some of the latest tracks. ol madtracker can do anything you want it too now.
