Bit About me:

Ive been creating tuneage for about 8 months now. (If only i started with screamtracker 3 when i was a young lad, i would know so much by now, but starcraft was just soooooo cool!) Although i have been thinking about music all my life. started with madtracker 2. now i use a variety of programs

My first tune made was 'Atari 2004' and i havent truly finished a song since Razz except for that collaboration with some crazy UK dude. my goals are to eventually create music for movies and video games. im planning on going to music school after much upgrading. hopefully it all works out.
i am still trying to complete a song as i need more time to record vocals to complete current projects. my near future goals are to produce artists in my hometown, and thats why i started The Sounds of Calgary, just so other musicians in my city can have a place to network, and come together, release music, blah blah, and hopefully something will spring out of my town's very-underground music scene

Styles

i like to dabble with everything to try and get a feel for this particular genre since i may be producing some people in my hometown. Though my influences are 90s dance music like real mccoy, and old reggae-dancehall music, as this is the stuff i grew up with. and because of this i feel all my music has this technoey feel to it.

A bit about my past musical experience

as you all know Ive only listened to music so far, but I have used all the major trackers to do it (starting with modedit in 1992). My only experience up to now with actually using a tracker was the last chain song, where I edited one note.
When I was younger I used to listen to my mom play her piano alot, I always wanted to learn and she did start teaching me in my teens. I didn't really learn alot though until I bought my own keyboard about two years ago. It was at that time that a friend started giving me piano lessons. Sure even when I was little I picked out stuff on the piano that I heard, but I never really developed my own style. I am hoping the lessons will help me to develop that personal style.
At the moment though I am working on my first solo song. Even it won't be quite my style since I am hoping it will be good enough to be used in my aunt's massage business. I can always develop my personal style later.

I don't know what I can bring to the chain song this time, but hopefully it will be something more than just following someone elses instructions. I'll have a listen and do what I can though. I'm really excited about this.

* that's august 6th not June 8th swapping dates is a bit confusing

More or less play the guitar, bass, drums and the piano. Been using the PC to produce stuff since 97, on and off. I occasionally release soomething, very rearly these days tho. Thought I would take a chance on the chain this year.

Listens to Triphop, Chillout, Jazzy, Ambient, House, Lounge, Soul.. well most kinda music. There is nothing that I really hate to listen to. Everything has something to offer in my opinion.

I started making music at age of 13 with a keyboard (casio).
Then I discovered music on the computer...and I started tracking...
My influence are mostly kind of resoursing melodies giving you power and shape!

I know Madtracker for @ least 5 years now and I'm now getting more interested in the forum than before.

thanks to Yannick, Lonestar and Factor who invite me to the chainsong...

...and to all trackers who makes it work !!!

no-style.

I drink, I hit record, I bang my fists on a keyboard, I edit, I make it sound like I'm a genius. I've used madtracker for maybe 4 years now, and I just love to make strange noises come out of it.

As I've been into games since I first laid my hands on my Atari 2600 gaming console (which I still have btw), I love the music. The gaming music. The OLDSCHOOL gaming music!
(Most of) my tunes reflect this; lo-fi samples, simple melodies, and the feeling you get when listening to them ("Hey this sounds like its from a game!"). Hardware-wise while making music I first made some "music" on an epson laptop (about the first laptop ever created, it had a small lcd screen (4X16 chars big) and was as big as a VCR). With this monster I could make... Well... Monophonic tunes, not unlike the ones you have in a cellphone nowadays. Of course, back then, cellphones didn't even exist. From there I went to C-64, amiga (ST & PT) and then finally to PC (FT2 and now MT).

Influences are... Well... Take a guess. You're probably right. Or listen to my music and you know instantly if its someone YOU'd listen to! Games, games, games.

Spin Wizard Silas Rye,
dj and producer for SpIllt Beats Crew.
I like to write songs in a bpm rante of 70 to 120 usually 80 to 100 though. I like hip hop and funk and dance music, and i make alot of off sounding things. If you want to hear what my style is like go check my stuff out at www.spilltbeats.com. Its all at 192kbs so youd better have broadband if you want to listen.
Ive been djing for 7 years, and writing music for 5. I play the bass in my music also, but im not very skilled at it, though i do have some style of my own. I enjoy jamming and working with others on music, usually tracking isnt the best outlet for this, but a chainsong is a good chance.
