hey all,
I started with this track yesterday morning, and finished it the same night...
I think I'll create a longer edit in the future, but the track as it is now stands pretty well I guess.
So, tell me what you think, its kinda in a trance gengre, been listening to ferry corsten's new album lately...

I love this! I think it's fricking great! Especially that rythm you start with (don't remember if it lasted the whole song). Don't have much more to say, i'll recommend it to friends.
btw, how is that ferry corsten album? Is trance still evolving? |
what is hip?

Could this be called tech-trance perhaps? When the intro is over it all sounds a bit like a Members of Mayday track for a while. The intro on second thought also reminds me of Members of Mayday. Love the bassline, has just that tight sound Timo Maas is so often praised on.
What I miss a bit however is some reverb on the short bleeps. The robotic voice is perhaps used a bit too much in the break. Either that or the break is too long imo.
After 5:00 I'm not the biggest fan of this track anymore. Don't think the lead you introduce works that well with what has been set up before. It's a bit as if you're trying to turn the track into a melodic piece all of a sudden, when it's been on the techy side of things for so long.
Overall, nice track, good energy, but to be honest not the floorfiller I was expecting based on the other replies. |

Nice one Q..As u probably know by now i ain't no trancehead, but there is something about this track...don't think i'm likely to convert, but i enjoyed listening to this...
The intro is dark and deep and sets the mood for the rest of the track nicely. All the sounds fit good together, and it's not as buisy and "stressed" as a lot of trance tends to get..¨
And not to forget the beats and bassline, the nice swooshing sound the comes in about half way, and finally the voc.that fits smack bang in the middle...
Cool... |

I agree with this
The problem with the main lead was, and this is what I hate in most 'trance' productions, that when I turned up the cut off, the lead took in all of the freq spectrum.
So that's why the new sounds are introduced after the climax, but I ( after listening 50 times ) don't like them either, so I'm reworking the track, I turned down the release on the 2nd lead sound, so it's less 'in the mix' and dotted some new fx's around the place. And I made the 'beep' synth more ehm well, more more
But, I'm not yet finished, will post the new edit here when I'm finished though...
BTW, that bassline is a combo between an ensemble called 'P-Bass' from Reaktor 4 ,wich has a fat sound to it, and a simple triangle-wave sample with an bit crusher over it to give the whole sound a cruncy edge, and then combing all the sounds thru the drum-compressor. ( Artrack Compressor:gate, I realy recommend this one! )

And thanks all for the great feedback!

Well, I could do that, but that would mean that the whole character of the lead changes. In the new version it is used more as an effect after the climax.

I'm ready to vomit, actually. I'll fly over there and puke on you if you like. As for slapping the stupid out of people, I usually don't do that abroad.
