Posted: Fri Aug 06 2004 07:34 Sessions dying? |
 |
Lately I get logged out at random pretty often here on MT.org. Just now I got kicked out just as I was posting. And no, I wasn't writing a 2 page essay, I was 2-3 minutes tops in the reply dialog. Other times it's happened when transitioning between pages. Almost seems as if the browser forgets all session variables all of a sudden. Is this a known bug, or? And yes, I'm using IE atm. (because I'm at work). |

Do you have the "log me in automatically" option checked or not?
Any other experiencing the same problem?

I only have to log in once a month, unless I'm logging in from school.
The problem that Mikx stated though has gotten me a few times. Most of the time, it's been careless error, but a couple of days ago, I refreshed the index page, and my little "Unread Threads" list went from 7 to 0.
So, either I read them all in 5 seconds flat and forgot to notice, or something's playing tricks on the browser. (Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 for me) |

Well we got this problem too over at United Trackers sometimes (PHPBB), but I experienced it also over @ Renoise (invision bb) or other forums. |

I talked to a friend about this (he's the programming geek on a computer company), and he said they had similar problems on some of their sites. He didn't find any cause for the problem, but it seems that upgrading PHP to the latest version fixed it. When they did it the latest version was 4.3.6 or something like that, so I guess anything above that version should have this problem fixed |

Same here, since I had this automatic logging out problem too. Php upgrade appearantly did the job.

i beg to differ. it does this almost every day now for me, and for some reason it forgets which threads are unread which is just super annoying as i have to look at the date of the latest post..

It just happened to me again after going to the private messages.
It may be a bug in the newest phpBB as well.
