Hi there, Im new at madtracker and I like it very much, but...
I have this slight problem that causes a lot of trouble for me to create music! I am a descendent of Fasttracker, so my mind is focused on the way Fasttracker works! I know you can change your view to a fasttracker option, but that isnt the problem! My problem is:
I can only use my Midi Keyboard to edit or change things in my song. I cant control the rest by my own keyboard (not my midi keyboard). I cant select a position in a pattern with my own keyboard!! I am used to work with shortcut keys in fasttracker, and I know that it was also possible in earlier versions of madtracker!! So, can anyone plz help me to get this done?! Thank you and hope to here from you soon!!

Ensure you have the focus on the pattern editor (hit F12 if you're unsure).

You're sure your keyboard is even connected to your pc?
Make sure that no other application holds your keyboard (I never heard of such a thing for a native keyboard, but who knows), and - as Yannick said - make sure that the track editor is the active screen (and that no hidden other windows are on top).

I had the same problem at first.
First load a instrument.
Set the octave you want.
Set the "ADD" for how many places the next note starts.
You will be adding notes at the position (blue on my computer) on the screen.
You can move this to another column by using the arrow keys on your computer.
To start adding notes, click on the red dot near the top of the screen. Pausing the mouse cursor over it will say edit.
After clicking it, a white box will be around the dot.
Now you can use the computer keys to enter notes.
Not all keys work as notes.
Experiment! |

Good day everybody. Just made an account happy to be here...

//in Dutch

Has anyone solved this? I've updated to win XP and also to RC4, and now the (computer) keyboard won't affect the pattern window at all. Can't add notes, or even use the arrow keys to scroll. I can't read Dutch so appologies if you have to re-explain something.
EDIT: I had the wrong MT2.DAT installed, it seems to work now. Or maybe cos I installed the old version aswell. Either way it seems to work now.
EDIT AGAIN: Now it's stopped working ;o; I didn't even change anything just reloaded the program. |
