How do I view less channels onscreen?

I am using MT 2.3.2, working in FastTracker mode, and I am wondering if it's possible to only see 5 channels or so on screen at once? I am using the default 16 channels. I think I can manage something like this by switching to an 800x600 screen resolution but I was wondering if there was a to do this within Madtracker.
The reason I'm working in FT mode is that I find I'm straining my eyes too much to see the notes in MT mode when I'm using the 'show zeros' option, an option I can't really do without because it allows me to see the bar divisions more easily.
If it's not possible to view less channels onscreen in Fasttracker mode is there an easier way of achieving this from within windows? Going into the display options is time consuming.

Thanks,
snarkle.

Hmm.. I'm afraid there is no solution. MT doesn't support different font size for the pattern display. So you can't make them wider like you can in FT2.
And Windows allows you to enlarge the system fonts, but that won't affect the bitmap font that MT uses internally to draw the pattern.

But this is an interesting issue. I haven't really considered poor-sighted people when I designed MadTracker (my bad, I know). I will see what I can do for upcoming versions.

Thanks for keeping this in mind. Another interesting thing I've noticed with Madtracker is that for some reason the default colour scheme disagreed with me as well. I tried some of the other colour schemes and could not get used to any of them either. I tried making my own and it was only after an hour of fiddling did I get something that is just about acceptable. I did not have this problem in Impulse Tracker which is the other tracker I have used.

Regards, snarkle.

It would be nice if you could send me your color scheme.
To do so, it's a bit tricky though... Here's how to do it:

  • Click on the Start menu and select "Run..."
  • Type "regedit" then OK
  • In the regedit program, go intoto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Madhouse\MadTracker\Colors (you can go there like you would browse folders in the explorer)
  • Ensure the "Colors" folder is highlighted
  • Menu -> Registry -> Export
  • Select a file name and save
  • Send me that file Smile

I'll include the scheme in the next setup.

Yes I work in 800x600 exclusively now instead of 1000x768, and this has solved my problem. I thought it would be a hassle using other programs in this lower resolution but it's really not much of one.
