Hi.
Would it be possible to include "automatic" triolization feature to MT2? I have a problem that I need to use very often both 1/32 bar accuracy (1 row in 8 ticks resolution) and trioli sounds.
To accomplish this I have to multiply the pattern length by 1.5 and scale the notes accordingly because madtracker can expand only by factor 2. And of course I have to adjust bpm rate so that the real bpm is the same (because now the space between beats is 12, not 8 rows)
It would be nice to be able to expand by factor 1.5 and also shrink by the same factor.
The ultimate solution to this would be if there would be "two independent" trackers inside madtracker that have separate bpm, ticks and pattern list. But this of course would be bigger architectural work...
What do you think, Yannick
2 separate patterns... |

Have you tried to set LPB to 12 (or 6)?..
(LPB = Lines Per Beat)

OK so that solves part of my problem but not all.
Imagine a situation where ticks value is 8 and I have bass drum in every 8th row and hihat in every 2nd row. Then I want to add a trioli sound and keep the bpm you hear the same.
If I change the ticks value from 8 to 12 I get a resolution that supports a trioli sound.
But if I'm not able to scale the length of the pattern by factor 1.5, the bpm becomes much faster.
So even now that I don't need to calculate the correct bpm, I still have the problem that I have to manually insert empty notes to every track to scale the pattern manually for to get the correct bpm.
In addition, this feature would be extremely easy to implement. You just multiply the row value of every event by 1.5 and take either a floor or a ceiling function of the result.
I concider the lack of this property one of the strongest reasons (in addition to the lack of VST-instruments and effects) why I still need also Cubase in composing music.
Yannick, by implementing such a feature you get a competitive edge to other trackers. Or that's my opinion. Of course even stronger advantage would be if it would be possible to scale the pattern by an arbitrary constant (inside certain limits)..
There comes one difficulty though if you implement scaling by smaller than 1 constant. You have to handle the "collision" between events
But I thing that the most important would be to have scaling with factors 1.5 and 0.666667. |

there was a topic about this some time ago. In the topic I recomended to use the EDx effect, I've used it several times with some succes, just tweak the note delay for wicked triplets!
