Synchronized Tremolo/Delay?

Hi,

If any of you have seen Eddie Van Halen or Yngwie Malmsteen's volume knob trick, that is what I'm trying to accomplish here. Is there a VST plugin available that incorporates tremolo and delay side-by-side, so they are synchronized?

For example, first the tremolo would be synchronized to your picking, so that when you pick a note, it swells up in volume, and then back down, so each time the notes are sort of "slurred". Then you would have a slap-back delay set to the tempo of your picking (which is proportional to the tremolo), so it doubles the notes you actually hear.

I've tried having this set up with a separate Tremolo VST plugin and a separate Delay VST plugin working together, but I can't get them to be exactly in synch. Plus, I can't set the tremolo's timing (when it begins to increase volume), so the picking doesn't match it.

If this all sounds confusing, listen to Cathedral by Van Halen. The whole guitar part is done with this type of effect, but Eddie uses his volume knob to manually fade the volume in and out with each note. I'm not that talented, so I'm trying to have a computer do it for me. Smile

I'm not sure if I got what you were trying to do with thy sync stuff but, from what I can tell you want to controll the tremolo which is just a change in amplitude as you said. in that case you could just do it manually by automating any of the volumes avalible for a sample or vsti? or! you could use a LFO to controll set the dept and speed of the tremolo. maybe someone has a tip for vst there? anyways a tremolo is usually around 6 to 22hz. hope any helped could be me just talking rubbish...

* ahh, rubbish really sounds like it's a languange, I whish I could speak fluent rubbish, that would be cool.

Are you using the VSTs as realtime effects for the guitar (ASIO) or are you entering notes into madtracker the traditional way?

Thanks for your reply, guys.

I would be using it with ASIO drivers as a live setup.

Also, I don't have any knowledge of creating VST plugins, so I was wondering if there is a VST out there for me that would work for this.

well then I could suggest you find a virtual amp or something. This one http://www.amplitube.com/ is quite neat but I don't recall if there is a tremolo effect there.

also http://www.madtracker.org/plugins.php?author=db+audioware the last one could maybe be something.
dunno, check it out.

maybe also "Slayer" which is a guitar VST with several build in effects. I would guess that there would be a better chance of the two effects being syncronised if they came from the same VST.
