Hi, Newbie here...

I've found my way around madtracker pretty nicely, actually have an entire song almost finished that I'm quite proud of. I would like to play it in the forum, but I'm not a registered user Sad Anyway, my question is this: when I open up madtracker, it refuses to play anything - songs I've been working on, instruments, anything. When I hit play, nothing happens. I browsed around to see if anyone else has had this problem, but didn't find anything related. Why is madtracker refusing to play anything all of a sudden? Thanks for the help...

this may have various reasons.

if there were some audio card or even just driver changes then there's a chance you have to go into configuration window (ctrl+f) and set the audio device again.

also, it can be because of a 'false' cpu overhead detection, just uncheck the "Stop on CPU overhead"-like option in the configuration window.

if it's still not working try using left ctrl+f12 do stop and resume the audio output.

it's also possible that a vst you used got messed up and the notice window (titled 'Following plugs can't be loaded' or something similar) is hidden behind mt's main interface. browse through the dialog windows with alt+esc to find the window and close it.

that's all i can think of right now Smile

Hey thanks a lot for the help Brian... for some odd reason it's working again (didn't make any changes either). But it's good to know what to check in case it happens again... I appreciate the help.

I've had this sometimes also. I think it has something to do with the soundcard not initializing properly when windows starts. If the ctrl+F12 method didn't do the trick, I'd usually try with a restart of MT, if that didn't help then a reboot solved it. If this happens again you could also try closing MT2, then going into the device manager and disable your sound device, then re-enable it again. Not sure if that would work though (just thought of it myself).

btw. You don't need to be a registered user to post music to the music forum. You just need somewhere to host the files you want to post/get feedback on. Being a registered user gives you the benefit of being able to host your files on "some username".madtracker.net Wink
