im trying to decipher what this means, for example for the first row of squares on the top, what does that first dot on the left, as a note, represent? and what is the formula for the whole thing from top to bottom, left to right? i dont mean those wierd looking formulas i mean this kind like this

C#, D,D#,E,F,F# etc. if yo dont mind translating it this way that is...if i find out before i get an answer maybe it would be alright if i just tell anyone here who wouldnt understand this graph Very Happy

i know this has something to do with how you would play these notes on a guitar fret or, guitar anyhow.

just curious question to understanding someones language to music..

It illustrates the fretboard of a guitar. When no fingers are pressed on the strings the notes of the strings are:

E - A - D - G - B - E

Each fret presents a halfnote, so the circles with the #1 would read

G - C - F - A - D -G

Hopefully this is enough information for you to calculate the #3
