uhm, could you clarify a bit. Have you loaded a bunch of samples into an instrument and now you wonder how to get them mapped to your keyboard?

I don't even know how to get the (samples I've downloaded) loaded to an instrument, or mapped to my "computers keyboard." Is there a way to just download Instruments or do you load samples to an instrument? OR are there any better ways of going about getting new sounds to use to make songs? sorry for any confusion but I've only had the madtracker program for a few weeks...

well, essentially samples and instruments are two different things.

the samples are concrete files, .wavs, .aiffs and such. you can assign one or more samples to an instrument.

instruments can be considered as if they were real instruments, that may consist of multiple samples. the samples are just the sounds behind the instrument's notes, without volume envelopes, filters, NNAs and other handy things.

so usually when you want to load a sample you want to create an individual instrument for it, like explained here: http://www.madtracker.org/documents/quickstart.xml?page=3#title3.

but you can assign multiple samples to a given instrument. you may want to do so because you want to have all your percussion samples in one instruments so you assign the different samples to different notes in the same instrument.

edit: a fastmade tutorial in making multisampled instruments can be found here: http://www.madtracker.org/wiki/index.php/Creating_multisampled_instruments
